Exploring Coherence Across Nature, Life, and Matter

SEED Research Institute is an independent interdisciplinary research organization dedicated to advancing the understanding of coherence in natural, biological, environmental, and informational systems.

The SEED Research Institute is inspired by the creation principle of “according to its kind” found in Genesis 1 of the Bible. We define SEED (Archetypal Seed) as the original blueprint of identity and function inherent in every entity. It is the foundational principle by which life, matter, and function are manifested when the archetypal blueprint achieves coherence under the appropriate conditions.

Based on this philosophy, the SEED Institute integrates the 5D-ICF (Five-Dimensional Integrated Coherence Framework) to investigate the fundamental principles governing the manifestation and transformation of life, matter, environment, energy, and information. Through interdisciplinary research, we seek to develop innovative technologies and practical applications that contribute to the sustainable advancement of humanity and the Earth.

Our work seeks to explore how complex systems maintain order, stability, adaptability, and function despite constant interaction with their surroundings.

Through scientific inquiry, experimentation, and collaboration, we aim to contribute new perspectives and practical insights that may help address challenges in sustainability, health, technology, and environmental stewardship.

We believe that some of the most important discoveries emerge at the intersection of disciplines. By bringing together researchers, engineers, innovators, and thought leaders, we strive to create a platform where new ideas can be explored with curiosity, rigor, and openness.

SEED Research Institute is committed to pursuing knowledge that serves humanity and contributes to a deeper understanding of the interconnected world in which we live.

Co-Founder

Dr. Howard Park

Co-Founder & Executive Director

Dr. Howard Park is an entrepreneur, researcher, and sustainability strategist dedicated to advancing innovative solutions at the intersection of science, technology, investment, and global development. Throughout his career, he has worked to bridge fundamental research with practical implementation, particularly in the fields of clean energy, carbon markets, circular economy, and sustainable resource management.

He conducted research at Seoul National University in the fields of energy systems, petroleum engineering, and carbon science, where his work focused on understanding complex transport phenomena in subsurface environments. As the lead author of peer-reviewed research, he developed mathematical models based on fractional calculus and Fox H-functions to interpret the behavior of oil and gas in fractal porous media, contributing to the application of mathematical physics to complex geological systems.

In parallel with his academic pursuits, Dr. Park has led and advised global investments in large-scale energy, infrastructure, and sustainability projects across multiple countries. His expertise spans energy transition, international project development, carbon finance, and the commercialization of innovative climate technologies, combining scientific insight with strategic business leadership to accelerate the deployment of impactful solutions.

Beyond conventional engineering, Dr. Park maintains a deep interest in the fundamental principles governing complex systems and natural phenomena. He actively engages in interdisciplinary dialogue with scholars across diverse scientific fields, exploring theoretical frameworks that connect mathematics, physics, energy systems, and the underlying mechanisms of nature. His work reflects a commitment to integrating scientific inquiry with practical innovation to address some of the world's most challenging environmental and technological problems.

As Founder of the SEED Research Institute, Dr. Park is committed to building a global platform where researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers collaborate to transform pioneering ideas into real-world solutions. His vision is to foster interdisciplinary innovation that advances clean energy, climate action, carbon neutrality, and a more sustainable future for humanity.

Co-Founder

Dr. Fred Chung

Co-Founder & Chief Scientific Director

Dr. Fred Chung is a scientist, inventor, and biotechnology entrepreneur specializing in cancer therapeutics, nanomedicine, immunology, and fundamental scientific research. His work has focused on translating scientific discoveries into innovative medical technologies while exploring the fundamental principles underlying matter and life.

He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), USA, at the age of 23 years and 11 months, becoming the youngest Korean to earn a doctoral degree from an overseas university at the time.

Dr. Chung is the inventor of multiple internationally patented technologies, including cancer metastasis prevention, cancer diagnostics, and other biomedical innovations, with patent portfolios in the United States, China, and other countries. He has also pioneered the development of nanotechnology-based anticancer therapeutics and non-steroidal treatments for allergic rhinitis.

As Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Xylonix, he has led the development of next-generation immuno-oncology technologies, including the Onco-Parthanatos platform. More recently, his research has expanded into the 5D Interference-Coherence Field (5D-ICF), investigating theoretical frameworks that explore the fundamental principles of matter, coherence, and biological systems.

As Co-Founder of SEED Research Institute, Dr. Chung is committed to advancing interdisciplinary research that bridges biotechnology, medicine, physics, and fundamental science, transforming pioneering ideas into innovations that improve human health and deepen our understanding of nature.

Our Story

Every scientific breakthrough begins with a question.

SEED Research Institute was founded from a simple yet profound curiosity:

How do complex systems maintain order, resilience, and functionality in an ever-changing world?

Across nature, living organisms, ecosystems, materials, and information systems, remarkable forms of organization emerge and persist. These observations inspired a broader exploration into the principles that may underlie coherence across different domains.

What began as a collection of observations and discussions gradually evolved into an interdisciplinary effort involving researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and innovators seeking deeper understanding of these phenomena.

Today, SEED Research Institute serves as a platform for inquiry, experimentation, and collaboration, bringing together diverse perspectives to explore questions that extend beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries.

While many questions remain unanswered, we believe that the pursuit of understanding is itself a meaningful journey—one that may contribute to new scientific insights and practical solutions for the future.

Scientific Frameworks

Scientific progress often begins with conceptual frameworks that help organize observations, generate hypotheses, and guide experimentation.

At SEED Research Institute, we explore several emerging frameworks that seek to better understand coherence, organization, and complex interactions within natural and engineered systems.

These frameworks are not presented as established scientific consensus. Rather, they serve as evolving research models that are continually refined through observation, experimentation, and critical evaluation.

Current areas of exploration include:

  • Coherence-Based System Models
Conceptual approaches for understanding how systems maintain stability and organization.
  • Information-Structure Relationships
Exploration of how information and structure may interact across different scales and environments.
  • Emerging Interdisciplinary Frameworks
Research models that integrate perspectives from physics, biology, environmental science, and complexity studies.
  • Experimental Methodologies
Development of new approaches for investigating coherence-related phenomena.

SEED Research Institute remains committed to scientific rigor, open inquiry, transparency, and evidence-based evaluation as these frameworks continue to evolve.
